One thing you don’t ask someone who is diagnosed with a serious illness…

…is “What’s your prognosis?” Even if you meant well, you just don’t. It’s like asking the person battling with the illness how much time do they have left in this world? Unless maybe you are a very close family or friend with a very close relationship with the person, you just don’t ask that question. Be sensitive. If the person wants to share with you the details about their illness, they will. Instead, ask “How are you doing? How are you feeling today?” A little kindness goes a long way.
